User privacy has become a cause of concern for users around the world and thereby has also become a significant obligation for the tech companies. As the world’s most prominent tech event, CES 2020 will also host a roundtable discussion on the topic with chief privacy officers of leading tech companies.
Chief Privacy Officers to join Apple at the roundtable
The discussion entitled, “Chief Privacy Officer Roundtable: What do consumers want?’ will be moderated by Rajeev Chand, Partner and Head of Research at Wing Venture Capital. Jane Horvath, Senior Director for Global Privacy at Apple Inc. will be representing the tech giant on one of the most crucial panel discussions in the CES 2020 on January 7. The panel will also include the VP, Public Policy & Chief Privacy Officer for Policy at Facebook, Erin Egan as well as the Global Privacy Officer of Procter & Gamble, Susan Shook. Notably, Rebecca Slaughter, Commissioner, Federal Trade Commission will also participate in the panel discussion along with these senior executives from the tech industry.
Apple’s unofficial influence at CES in the 27
years
Apple had last made an official appearance at the annual tech fair in 1992. John Sculley, the then CEO had attended the event to launch Apple’s Newton device. CES 2020 will mark the official comeback of Apple to the global platform after almost three decades. However, over the years, several reports have claimed Apple managers roaming the CES floors to have a look at emerging technologies and the ever-changing competitive landscape of the tech world. Furthermore, accessory makers have often filled the CES exhibition halls with cases and peripherals designed for Apple devices. Interestingly, despite its official absence from the event, Apple had also made news earlier in January 2019 for its billboard placed just outside the CES conference. The billboard had used the message, “What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone” to take a dig at the rest of the tech industry.
