The categories feature in Google Messages uses machine learning to automatically sort messages, and enable users to effortlessly find the messages that matter the most, especially when in emergency. The option to automatically delete your one-time passwords (OTPs) will also help save time as one will not have to manually sit down and delete the messages. Google, in its official blogpost, announced the new features for its messaging app for users in India. The rollout will span over the coming weeks in English on Android phones in India running Android 8 and above. Both the new features of Google messaging app are optional and can be toggled on or off in Settings. The blogpost stated, “That means, bank transactions and bills will be filtered into the transactions tab, while conversations with saved numbers can be easily located in the personal tab. All of this happens safely on your device so your conversations stay in the app and you can access your categorized messages offline.” The new Google messaging app features will be available for those Android phones that are running Android 8 and newer versions.
