Steps to find out the storage capacity of an Android phone
Step 1
Go to your settings (It is available in your app menu, with a great design)

Now scroll down and then choose ‘Storage’ from the list. (In case you can not locate the storage on the list then go to the search bar and search for storage > it will give you the result)

Now you can see different data’s showing you Available and used Internal Storage. Usually on the top of your Android screen, there is the storage that is in use (by your applications, videos, images) and then there is storage space that is still available. Whatever you will on the screen won’t be simply written. There will be multiple sections in which your storage device is divided. Your storage space will be further divided into different files available on your Android. This is one of the basic way to find out the storage capacity of an Android.
Step 4
Next thing that comes on the list is how much storage space your Applications occupy. If you want to find out how much it is, then it is displayed on the right side of the Installed apps on your Android. Choose ‘Apps’ from the menu > you will see installed apps and the storage space they occupy. You can also empty the occupied space. By uninstalling the unnecessary apps. Go to the app icon in your menu > long press the app > then slide it towards uninstall option on top of the screen.

If you want to further check the amount of space used by images. Then it is usually available on the right side of the ‘Pictures’ or ‘Images’, after you open your storage menu. Go to your storage menu > choose ‘Pictures’ or ‘Images’ (It will show a list of all the images and pictures) To clear the occupied space of Images Choose images you no longer need > Then click delete on the top right corner of the screen. It will free your more storage space.

Another storage section is the video section. In this section also, the storage space is usually available at the right side of the ‘Videos’. Choose ‘Videos’ from the menu > you’ll see a list of videos > long press one unnecessary then keep selecting all other videos you do not want anymore > Then hit the delete option on the top right corner of the screen.

Next storage area is covered by the Audio files. For Audio files, the storage space is usually mentioned below the Audio. Choose ‘Audio’ from the menu > Click on the Audio > It will display a list of Audios > choose unnecessary Audios > long press one audio then select others > hit the delete button on the top right corner of the screen.

Further there is a storage space used by Documents. These Document files cover text Documents, PDFs or MS office files. Their occupied storage space is mentioned on the right side of the Documents. Choose Documents > Long press one of the unnecessary Document > Select other unnecessary documents from the list > hit the delete button from the upper right corner of the screen.

Most unnoticed yet important data is the Cached Space. Cached data is made up of temporary files, or copies of the data available in your phone. Which is not required at first place. So cache should be cleared time to time. Your device automatically downloads certain data from the internet, so that you don’t have to download it again and again when you visit same file again. This is how you can clear this space. Open the storage menu > Go to the ‘Cached Memory’ or ‘Cached Data’ on your device > Tap on it > You will be asked to either delete it or cancel it > choose ‘Ok’ to delete the Cached Space. Note: Some Android phones use ‘App Data’ instead of ‘Cached Data’. So don’t confuse the term, they both are same thing. You can follow same process.

Another misunderstood section of storage space is ‘Miscellaneous files’. In this section, there are temporary files which contains playlists and thumbnails Go to the Miscellaneous files > you will see the list of files > long press one then select others > then hit the delete button on the upper right corner of your phone. Note: This type of storage section is not available in every Android phone.

Last but not the least is the external storage or SD card storage. It will depend on if you have installed any external storage card or not. Go to your storage menu > Choose ‘SD card’ > You will see used as well as available storage space. Further you can check how much space is used by individual files (images, videos, documents, apps). You can even delete the files from storage menu. Process will be same as it is for the internal storage.
