With online conferences becoming the norm today, WhatsApp has finally introduced an update that allows adding upto 32 contacts on a conference call of the voice category. With such a feature, the messaging app has joined the league of classic conference apps such as Skype and Zoom. Both Android and iOS users are set to receive the feature once they update their apps from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store respectively. The update is set to see roll out in a phased manner. Earlier WhatsApp supported only up to eight members only. Even before that, pre-pandemic this number stood at four. The new update is restricted only for voice calls and not for video calling till now. Here are the easy steps to get hands on this extended call member addon feature on your WhatsApp-
Update your app.Select a group you have on WhatsApp.Click on group call icon in case you group has more than 32 participants. If a group has lesser participants, click Voice Call and then confirm.
The earlier joiners on the group call up to seven in number can be directly added. You can add more participants after that. As far as the call quality is concerned, your internet connection stability will be the decider here. The new update also packs in a new interface that comes with an audio layout as well as waveforms and speaker highlight. In case you have blocked someone on WhatsApp, you cannot add the same person on a call. Someone who has blocked you can not receive your calls either on Group. As for the iOS update, WhatsApp comes loaded with voice message bubble as well as contacts info screen. The media access to favourites on phone gallery also gets a new tweak on the latest version for iOS. It is being anticipated that the Meta owned messaging app has bigger plans for future updates such as file sharing of up to 2 GB, individual message reactions, about me and profile picture hiding features.
